EVolution is a research project set up by the European Commission under the "The 7th Framework Program". The objective is to study and develop new materials that significantly reduce the weight of the new generation of hybrid and electric vehicles.

This project started in November 2012, will last four years and is divided into ten working groups, each of which plays a decisive role in the implementation of the project.

KGR is involved in working groups no. 4, 5 and 8.

The Group no. 4, co-ordinated by the Fiat Research Center, mainly deals with assembly and dismantling technologies, that is, to develop a bonding technology that makes it easy and quick to reverse the process. This would make it easier to recycle the end parts of the vehicle and to quickly replace the damaged parts during repair.

The Group no. 5, coordinated by FUNDACION TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION, will evaluate numerous production processes and the need for a gradual adjustment to introduce them to large scale production in automotive and industry.

The Group no. 8, led by the Danish Technological Institute, will promote the use and application of technical and scientific developments in the post-design phase. It will ensure effective dissemination of the results obtained from the project to the scientific community, the automotive industry with its induced, legislators, politicians and public opinion in general.
